Brandwag residents up in arms over alleged water cuts─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:04 Thu, 11 Aug 2022
Residents of the flats in Brandwag, Bloemfontein, took to the streets late last night to demonstrate their frustration over the alleged possibility of water cuts.
Free State police spokesperson, Wendy Nkabi, tells OFM News that a group of about 50 residents from the Brandwag flats barricaded the intersection of Nelson Mandela Drive and D F Malherbe Avenue with burning tyres, big stones, and advertisement boards. She says that the group dispersed as soon as the police arrived on the scene. Nkabi adds that the obstacles were removed and the traffic started flowing normally.
She says a case of contravening the National Road Traffic Act (93 of 1996) was registered at the Park Road Police Station. Nkabi concludes that the situation is calm and police are continuously patrolling the area. OFM News is awaiting a response from the Mangaung Metro Municipality.
