Apply for ID smart cards at Free State Home Affairs─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 13:17 Tue, 16 Aug 2022

Those above the age of 16 and without the Identification Document (ID) Smart Card can apply for one at the Botshabelo Home Affairs in the Free State.
An official of the Department of Home Affairs at Botshabelo's Medium Office, Pulane Sejane, explains that they have realised over time that people do not come to apply for ID smart cards. For the first time, applicants and pensioners above 60 years will not be charged for smart cards, but those who will be replacing the green book or replacing their lost cards will be charged.
“We take photos in the office for free. There’s no need for them to come with their photos. Then we are running a campaign for students and the community to apply for ID smart cards. We are opening on Saturdays and during the week we are closing at 17:00. We’ll be opening on 20 and 27 August 2022, and on 3 September, from 8:30 until 13:00. Only the Botshabelo office will be open,” she concluded.
