Mantsopa employees finally paid─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 05:05 Fri, 26 Aug 2022

Employees of the troubled Ladybrand-based Mantsopa Local Municipality in the Free State have finally been paid.
This follows after disgruntled workers staged a protest march to the headquarters of municipality over unpaid salaries on Thursday.
OFM News previously reported that workers were left frustrated after Mantsopa Acting Municipal Manager, Afrika Masuku sent them notifications of delayed salary payments for August 2022.

Meanwhile, Municipal spokesperson, Pule Lechesa confirmed to OFM News late yesterday that there were delays in payments of workers' salaries due to unforseen circumstances.
Lechesa however said that municipal management was able to deal with the issue which caused the delays.
He concluded that things are now back to normal at the municipality and that workers have been paid their salaries.

Mantsopa is one of eleven municipalities that previously approached the Provincial Departments of Finance and Cooperative Governance (Cogta) for a bailout.
