N1 closed at Ventersburg due to protests─── 09:53 Mon, 26 Sep 2022

The N1 at Ventersburg in the Free State province has been partially closed due to a service delivery protest.
Police spokesperson Loraine Earle says the protest started on Monday morning, 26 September 2022, due to the community not having water for several weeks now. She further advised motorists to use alternative routes.
“The N1 is closed so people must use alternative routes. From Kroonstad via Welkom to Bloemfontein. At Brandfort the road will also be closed – the Brandfort turn just outside Bloemfontein. People must use the alternative route via Brandfort to get on the N1 at Kroonstad”.
Earle says the protestors were violent in the early morning, but the situation has calmed down and is being closely monitored.
