JB Marks Municipality working on city cleanliness─── 14:35 Mon, 03 Oct 2022
The JB Marks Municipality in the North West launched a cleaning campaign on Monday 3 October 2022, which will focus mostly on illegal dumping sites.
The municipality’s acting Communications Manager, Jeanette Tshite, says the launch of the Letsema Cleaning Campaign is an attempt to improve the livelihood and cleanliness of residents, and to ensure that the state of cleanliness does not negatively impact human dignity and good health within the municipality. She says while the entire city will be addressed, there are areas identified as focal points for this campaign.
“Tshite says the municipality hopes that by the end of this campaign the areas will have been cleaned up, as the municipality will be teaching the community that there is a need to live in a clean environment. She adds that the municipality plans to ensure that they have covered all areas, particularly hotspot areas where they have a challenge of illegal dumping”.
OFM News previously reported that the ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa, will lead the launch of the ANC’s nationwide. The Letsema Campaign was launched in Kimberley, Northern Cape, on Saturday. The campaign was first launched in Bloemfontein, Free State, in April.

The Letsema Campaign is about putting the ruling party’s leaders at the forefront to help clean up the streets of the provinces and clean up provincial governments of dishonest individuals. It is also aimed at dealing with the shortfalls of service delivery and corruption and reconnecting residents with the party moving forward.
CORRECTION: The acting Communications Manager, Jeanette Tshite, is from the JB Marks Municipality, and not the Matjhabeng Municipality, as previously reported. The Letsema Campaign is, however, being launched at both these municipalities. OFM News apologises for any confusion.
