Free State ANC: We are ready for conference─── 07:02 Mon, 10 Oct 2022
The ANC in the Free State says it is ready to finally convene its elective conference. There have been several postponements since 2018.
Some members are unhappy with the current Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) and have filed court papers to have it disbanded. However, the committee is planning to go ahead with the conference later this month.
The Free State ANC’s IPC convenor, Mxolisi Dukwana, says contrary to a view that they are refusing to hold an elective conference, they are ready.
"The structures are ready. The challenge that we are facing has been this process of digitising the membership of the ANC, the QR codes. Once this is corrected, we are good to go."
"The most important thing, more important than just going to the conference, is actually getting people to understand what this renewal is all about. You can’t change things if you do not change your mindset, if you do not change the way you perceive things, and this is what we are engaged in," he adds.
He says there is no fixed date for the provincial conference yet, but they "made recommendations to the National Executive Committee (NEC)".
