Residents of Bokamoso in the Madibeng Local Municipality, North West, will soon breathe a sigh of relief regarding issues of water and sanitation.
This, as the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy - Nobuhle Nkabane - is expected to launch the Bokamoso Water and Sanitation Project in the area on Saturday.
According to spokesperson Johannes Mokobane, the project has been implemented by Samancor Chrome Limited (Mooinooi mine) at Stoor Huijs, Madibeng in North West.

The Madibeng Local Municipality has been under scrutiny for some time. In 2021, Jostina Mathibe was voted out as mayor following a motion of no confidence against him tabled by the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Her removal came after DA Caucus leader in Madibeng, Jan van Rhyn, stated that Mothibe lacked leadership, which led to the collapse of service delivery and continuous failed audits from the Auditor-General (AG) during her term.
Meanwhile, Mokobane explains that the Bokamoso Water and Sanitation project forms part of Samancor’s Social and Labour Plans (SLP), seeking to ensure that over 1000 households in Bokamoso have access to clean water and sanitation. Mokobane also adds that the company's SLP is aligned with the local municipality's Integrated Development Plan, which serves as a catalyst for local economic development, investment opportunities, poverty reduction and infrastructure development in the province.
