Teenager in custody for killing 82-year-old woman─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:05 Sat, 22 Oct 2022

The police in the Northern Cape have arrested a 19-year-old suspect for the murder of an 82-year-old woman.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) regional spokesperson, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, the suspect has made his first court appearance in the Richmond District Court on Friday 21 October 2022.
Senokoatsane says the matter against the teenager has been postponed to 25 October 2022, for bail information and possible bail application.
He says the 'gruesome discovery' of the body of the elderly victim was made by neighbours on 17 October 2022, after they became worried when they noticed that the door of the victim’s house remained open for days and the victim was nowhere to be seen.
Senokoatsane says the neighbours then later found the body of the victim lying in a pool of blood and the police were called to the scene. The boy was arrested later after the police had commenced with their investigations.
"Investigations led by the police are continuing in this matter. Godfrey Coenrad (19) has appeared in the Richmond District Court, on a charge of murder. He is accused of killing an elderly woman of 82 years in Richmond," Senokoatsane adds.

OFM News previously reported that the North West provincial government has implemented an initiative aimed at dealing with the scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) across the province.
According to Premier Bushy Maape each department will have two programmes in different areas focusing on GBV every month.
He says these departments will then also utilise and intensify the existing structures in departments by encouraging them to develop more campaigns on GBV.
This comes as a 24-year-old man was arrested by the police in Schweizer-Reneke outside Bloemhof following the murder of a sister nurse in that area.
She was found with her throat slit at her place of residence.
