According to reports, users say that they are unable to deliver messages and see when messages are delivered.

Currently, according to downdetector, a website that tracks and reports outages of online services globally, there have been thousands of reports on WhatsApp’s downtime.

WhatsApp has not yet released a statement or an update as to what is causing the glitch on any of their social media pages.

It is not clear at this stage how far-reaching the problem is. 

UPDATE: US tech giant Meta later on Tuesday said it had resolved a major WhatsApp outage that prevented many of the billions of users of its popular service from connecting or sending messages.
