Father receives life sentence after raping daughter─── HEIDRÈ MALGAS 06:36 Sat, 29 Oct 2022
A father from De Aar in the Northern Cape was sentenced to life imprisonment after having raped his 19-year-old daughter following a family funeral.
According to NPA Regional Spokesperson for the Northern Cape, Mojalefa Senokoatsan, the victim managed to escape and went to report the matter to the police.
The accused was arrested on September 12, and made his first appearance on the same day, but did not wish to apply for bail.
According to a statement by the NPA, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge, and the De Aar Regional Court sentenced him to life in prison.
The accused was also added to the National Register of Sexual Offenders.
The National Prosecuting Authority commended the Prosecutor and Investigating Officer for handling the case with the necessary professionalism and for how quickly it was resolved.
