Education Minister to engage with ECD practitioners in North West─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:00 Thu, 03 Nov 2022

The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, is set to host Early Childhood Development (ECD) engagements with Mahikeng practitioners in North West on Thursday 3 November 2022.
According to the Education spokesperson in North West, Elias Malindi, the engagements forms part of the process of receiving the function which was officially transferred from 1 April 2022. He explains that Motshekga has continuously engaged with the ECD community to gain feedback. Malindi adds that Motshekga will be accompanied by Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Reginah Mhaulek at the Seasons Wedding and Conference venue, Mahikengk in North West.

During the budget allocation for the 2022/23 financial year, North West Finance MEC, Motlalepula Rosho, revealed that the ECD at Grade R and Pre-Grade R levels is one of the programmes that will receive funding.
Earlier this year, employees belonging to the South African Congress for Early Childhood Development (SACECD) in the Free State handed over their grievances to the Department of Education. The provincial chairperson of SACECD, Sibongile Radebe-Phori, told OFM News that they had requested the department to look into the R1751 unfair stipend they have been paying them.
