A district court prosecutor, accused of rape, sexual assault, and contravening the Domestic Violence Act, appeared in the Upington District Court on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old District Court prosecutor is attached to the Upington Cluster in the Northern Cape. He is also facing a charge of compelling or causing a child to witness sexual offences, says Mojalefa Senokoatsane, regional NPA spokesperson for the Northern Cape.
He added that the prosecutor is accused of assaulting, raping, and sexually assaulting his 29-year-old partner who works for the South African Police Services in front of their 2-year-old daughter on 13 November 2022 in the Paballelo neighbourhood close to Upington.
“The matter has been adjourned to 22 November 2022 for bail application, as well as a formal bail application.”
He added that the defendant is kept in custody pending his upcoming court appearance. The Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit of the SAPS is still conducting investigations into this matter.
