Breaking News: Two shot dead in North West tavern ambush─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:13 Mon, 21 Nov 2022

Two people were murdered after five suspects were robbed at a tavern at Wolmaransstad in the North West in the early hours of Monday morning.
Provincial police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, told OFM News that five suspects entered the tavern late Sunday night, pretending to be patrons. She said the suspects spent some time at the tavern and they were even playing pool. She added that after midnight, the suspect closed the main gate of the tavern, confronted the owner and shot him. Myburgh added that the wife of the owner was hit with a bottle of beer on her head by suspects and they grabbed an undisclosed amount of money, and shot one of the patrons and another person who was outside the tavern.
“During this incident, two people were killed - the one inside and the one outside. Both of them are male. At this stage, I cannot confirm their age and identities. I can confirm that the lady or the wife of the owner, who was hit with the bottle, has been discharged from the hospital. The owner is still hospitalised. Wolmaransstad police are investigating two cases, the one is for business robbery and the other one is for murder,” says Myburgh.
Myburgh further added that residents of that area then assaulted two people who were in a tavern and suspected them to be part of the robbery as they are unknown or unfamiliar in that area. She said two males who were assaulted by community members were hospitalised, while their vehicle has also been damaged.
Myburgh said police are also investigating a case of assault and damage to property. No one has been arrested at this stage. Myburgh requested the public to assist police with information that may lead to the arrest of the public by contacting investigating officer, captain Sello Moshwawa, at 082 416 3608 or to visit their nearest police station.
