The Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality is having a memorial service on Thursday 1 December 2022 for two employees who lost their lives in a car accident on 25 November 2022.
Kenny Monyaki was a Personal Assistant to the Executive Mayor, Conny Msibi, while Bashin Maduna was a Community Liaison Officer in the same office.
According to the municipality's Head of Communications, Mamogolo Moshugi, the Youth Development Officer, Mpiyakhe Tshabalala, survived the accident, which happened on the road between Qwaqwa and Harrismith.
Moshugi told OFM News that all three employees were on their way home after assisting Mayor Msibi with issuing gifts to needy residents on one of the farms.
She goes on to say that they have played an important role in the municipality. "They were loyal to their jobs, and no one would close the gap that they have left. May their souls rest in peace. I also want to wish a speedy recovery to the survivor," she says.
She concludes by wishing her colleagues courage and strength through their loss.
A memorial service for the deceased will be held at the Thabo Mofutsanyana council chamber at 11:00.
