The Free State Premier has welcomed the contribution that Gift of the Givers continues to make in the province, particularly in Jagersfontein, which is still reeling from the disaster that affected many livelihoods and resulted in the loss of lives.
Accompanied by the provincial Finance MEC Gadija Brown, Economic Development MEC Makalo Mohale, Member of Parliament (MPL) Madala Ntombela, and other officials, Premier Sisi Ntombela met with the delegation from one of the provincial government's social partners, Gift of the Givers, led by the founder of the organisation, Imtiaz Sooliman.
According to the statement issued, the fundamental purpose of the meeting was to pledge more support and to forge a long-lasting relationship that commits to forming collaboration in several aid projects, such as the Pelonomi Hospital, Glen Agricultural College, and the Jagersfontein disaster area.
On 16 November 2022, the organisation donated 500 food parcels to 200 families that have been directly affected and 300 families that have been partially affected by the Jagersfontein mudslide incident, which left many people homeless.
The communication officer of the organisation, Corene Conradie, also promised that Gift of the Givers will return to Jagersfontein in January 2023 to hand over stationery and school shoes to 600 children.
