Free State to release stats of babies born on New Year's Day─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:37 Sun, 01 Jan 2023
The MEC for Health in the Free State is set to visit the Welkom-based Bongani Regional Hospital on Sunday, 1 January 2023.
MEC Montseng Tsiu will be visiting the maternity wards at the hospital and is also expected to announce a summary of available statistics, including that of newborn babies.
Previously the department announced that a total of 128 babies were born on Christmas Day.
According to the acting health spokesperson, Elke de Witt, the numbers included a total of 63 girls and 65 boys.
Mangaung Metro recorded the births of 23 girls and 21 boys.

"As stated previously the maternity ward at National District Hospital in Bloemfontein delivered the first Christmas baby, a baby girl at 00:04 to Ofentse Letutu from Bloemfontein weighing 3,010 kg.
Lehakwoe Makhabe, 3.1 kg [girl], was born at 00:43 to mother Judy Makhabe at MUCPP in Bloemfontein, and Lerato Masakala from Thabong in Welkom delivered her son, weighing 2,740 kg at Bongani Regional Hospital, at 00:50," De Witt added.
