Ramaphosa leads build-up to ANC celebrations in Free State─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:15 Wed, 04 Jan 2023
The president of the ANC, Cyril Ramaphosa, is expected to lead their revolutionary pilgrimage, starting off with a wreath-laying ceremony on Wednesday 4 January 2023 at the late ANC president Zacharias Mahabane’s gravesite in Kroonstad.
The Secretary-General of the ANC, Fikile Mbalula, explained that the revolutionary pilgrimage forms part of the build-up activities towards the ANC's 111th-anniversary celebrations that are expected to take place on Sunday 8 January 2023 in Mangaung. Mbaluala said that some officials won’t be able to attend all of the activities because of logistics.
“As is tradition, many activities will be conducted as part of the 111th anniversary. Activities will include a revolutionary pilgrimage led by officials, that will include a form of bricklaying and visits to various grave sites of former presidents of the ANC. We will start at Kroonstad, Maokeng, at the gravesite of Rev. Mahabane, and then we will proceed to Mangaung, [for] Ntate Maphikela, and we will end at Thaba Nchu at Dr Moroka's gravesite,” he said.
