A 40-year-old male has been hit and killed by a train at a level-crossing near East End Industrial Park in Bloemfontein.
Police found the remains of the man, yet to be identified, on Wednesday morning 11 January 2023 after they received a call about an accident that took place at the railway crossing near the suburb of Heidedal.
Police spokesperson Thabo Covane said they found the deceased, wearing a black jersey with white stripes. The public is urged to contact Heidedal Police Station to help identify the victim.
Covane said an appeal is made to pedestrians to be observant while crossing the railway lines as there have been multiple reports made of similar incidents.
The Heidedal Police have opened a case of culpable homicide for further investigation.
