Sports centre in Meloding to create jobs─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:57 Wed, 18 Jan 2023
The Mayor of the Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Thanduxolo Khalipha, officially launched phase two of the Virginia-based Meloding multipurpose sport centre on 17 January 2023.
The first phase of the project was completed and officially opened in 2021.
Speaking to OFM News, Mayor Khalipha says the second phase project, worth R15 million, is expected to create job opportunities and eradicate poverty.
Khalipha also explains how the municipality is planning to deal with some of the challenges that have already been experienced.
"We are going to form a steering committee that will appoint a community liaison officer (CLO). The CLO and steering committee will recruit people to be part of these new opportunities.
"We are happy that we are here today in Virginia, in Meloding," said Khalipha.
