Four suspects, allegedly involved in a cash-in-transit heist which took place on the R556 in Mmaditlhokwa, are under police guard in a North West hospital.
The group allegedly rammed and blew up a cash van and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash on Monday 30 January 2023. Two security guards were taken to a nearby medical facility after being shot and wounded.
North West police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe explained that an intelligence-driven operation led the Brits Trio Task Team and Crime Intelligence Officers to the R511, where they found four suspects travelling in a Hyundai H1.
“A shootout ensued, which led to the arrest of the four suspects. They were also found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash. All four are under police guard in the hospital. All four are charged with attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and the possession of stolen property."
Mathe added the police are pursuing more suspects linked to this crime.
