Letsemeng mayor expected to address angry residents | News Article

The mayor of the troubled Letsemeng Local Municipality, will today meet with residents of Petrusburg to try and iron out their differences over issues besieging the municipality.

Residents of Petrusburg have been up in arms for the past three days because of poor service delivery issues. One of the residents, Papi Seekoei, expressed they have been without water for months without any communication offered to them about when they will start receiving water. He, however, added that they were provided with a Jojo tank but the municipality has not been cleaning or filling up the tank with clean water. Seekoi also stated that they have been struggling with power outages and sewage drainage, which has also caused damage to their homes.

Meanwhile, the DA’s ward 6 councillor, Thabo Nthapo, says the ANC councillor has been avoiding contact with him regarding the matter. He says, in a council meeting held on Tuesday 31 January 2023, they raised the issue of the ruling party not hosting quarterly council meetings to attend to community issues. However, the mayor did not respond to this plea. The Mayor of the Letsemeng, Bonolo Mocwaledi, told OFM News that she will meet with irate residents of Petrusburg on Thursday to address their concerns.
