According to the police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, the first body of an unidentified man was found in April 2022 and is yet to be identified. She says the man's body was found lying on the road at Elandsfontein on the Lichtenburg/Mahikeng Road, with signs of blunt force trauma, possibly caused by a motor vehicle accident.

Myburgh says the second body of an unknown man whose body had decomposed and mummified was discovered next to the Lichtenburg/Coligny Road by farm workers approximately 14 kilometers from Lichtenburg. Myburgh says the cause of death could not be determined by a postmortem.

"The first man was 1.6m tall, dark in complexion and weighed about 70kg.  The second body, also of dark complexion was wearing a blue shirt with a solidarity shop steward logo, black chino trousers, a brown belt, brown shoes, with a red and black leather jacket. Next to the body, a black bag was also found containing clothing."

Myburgh adds that the police request anyone with information that can assist in the investigation to contact the Investigating Officer, Warrant Officer Willem Nortman on Cell: 082 416 0897 or call the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
