EFF expecting 'failed' Maape to resign─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 15:42 Thu, 23 Feb 2023
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in North West say they expect Premier Bushy Maape to vacate his position after "failing the province".
The provincial secretary of the EFF, Papiki Babuile, says Maape has to apologise to residents after "lying about the condition of the roads" at the State of the Nation debate last week.
He said this ahead of Maape’s State of the Province Address (Sopa) which he will deliver on Friday, 24 February 2023. Babuile lashed out at Maape for the lack of water delivery in the province, poor infrastructure, non-existent service delivery, lack of job opportunities, and deteriorated health structures. He further said he expects him to speak on failed projects and expects him to hand over his resignation after failing the province.
"We expect him to tell us about the industrial project he said we were going to implement in the Moses Kotane municipality, but there has been no progress, nothing at all. He must give us feedback on the state of health which is deteriorating in the province, and ultimately, we expect him to tender his resignation as the premier of this province because he has failed in everything that he does," said Babuile.

An analyst from the North-West University, prof André Duvenhage, stated earlier that he is expecting the provincial government to follow in the footsteps of the Free State government, as they are also undergoing a regime change. This comes after stating that the North West Government is expected to rid itself of the former premier's legacy, Supra Mahumapelo.
Meanwhile, the DA member of the Provincial Legislature, Freddy Sonakile, lashed out at Maape for the statement that he made about load-shedding during the Sona debate last week.

"As I said, the Western Cape and Gauteng have already spoken about their plans on how they are going to assist residents and businesses in dealing with load-shedding. So we are quite concerned that, when he was addressing the Sona debate two weeks ago, our premier said businesses and residents must start buying themselves generators. "We hope that by tomorrow, he will have learned from the drama and uproar that his statement has caused in the country," said Sonakile.
