Masilonyana moves with speed to restore water supply─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:33 Thu, 02 Mar 2023
Residents of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in the Free State, previously known as Brandfort, will breathe a sigh of relief as water restoration is possible after being without it for almost two weeks.
OFM News previously reported residents of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela experienced water challenges after the Variable Speed Drive (VSD), which powered the motor, was damaged and needed to be replaced.
During the procurement process to replace the damaged VSD, the spokesperson of the Masilonyana Local Municipality, Zongezile Ntjhwabule, informed OFM News that trucks were dispatched around the affected areas to supply residents with water.

On Wednesday 1 March 2023, Ntjwabule said the VSD was delivered at pump station A and the Technical Team has commenced with installations. He added an update will be issued once the installations have been completed.
He previously confirmed that no schools or businesses were affected by water cuts as the municipality ensured that trucks were dispatched and areas which have JoJo tanks have been supplied with water by the municipality.
