The Ditsobotla Local Municipality's problems are far from over after the acting municipal manager (MM) allegedly resigned.

Mothusi Oagile left the position after he was seconded by the North West Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs as the MM.

Just two weeks ago, residents in the area held a service delivery protest march with the water shortage issue at the top of their list.

The DA's spokesperson for Cogta, Freddy Sonakile, told OFM News they saw it coming, citing that there isn't a concrete plan to bring stability to Ditsobotla.

He said it has been clear that Oagile did not receive the necessary support from the department. "We will not be surprised if the municipality is dissolved again, The coalition isn't working and the municipality is unsafe," said Sonakile.

The Ditsobotla Local Municipality is led by Elizabeth Lethoko of the Patriotic Alliance, under the coalition of the African National Congress, Patriotic Alliance and Forum 4 Service Delivery.

The Economic Freedom Fighters' North West secretary, Papiki Babuile, said they have been questioning deployments at the municipality, including the acting chief financial officer, saying they aren't shocked it came to this point.

Babuile told OFM News they are happy Oagile chose to not be part of corruption.

North West Cogta spokesperson, Dineo Thapelo, said expectations are that council will convene to discuss the resignation.
