Service delivery protests escalate in Phomolong, motorists warned─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:35 Mon, 17 Apr 2023
Motorists have been warned to drive with caution when approaching the R70 road outside Hennenman as service delivery protests continue to take place in Phomolong.
According to Free State police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Thakeng, in the early hours of Monday morning, residents barricaded most streets in Phomolong and attempted to barricade the R70 road, while schools continue to be disrupted.
“On 17 April 2023, at about midnight, residents of Phomolong gathered in groups and tried to barricade the R70 road. They were, however, thwarted by SAPS members of Public Order Policing on the ground, who dispersed them. The group then demanded to speak to the MEC and Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane,” said Thakeng.
