Gunwielding men steal cables at Matlosana water pump─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:48 Sun, 23 Apr 2023
The Klerksdorp-based Matlosana Local Municipality in the North West has reported that gun-wielding men have stolen cables at its Ellaton Water Pump station, which has since caused water-shedding in several areas.
According to the communication office of the municipality, a group of men cut off cables, took a CCTV camera screen, and left the scene as security guards called for back-up while in the guard room.
This has left areas of Jouberton, Alabama, Manzilpark, Hartbeesfontein, and Tigane without water. The municipality says electricians and the Water Section team is currently assessing and attending to the matter.
The cable theft incident took place on Friday 21 April 2023.
