The leaders of the Dihlabeng Local Municipality in conjunction with the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality in the Eastern Free State listened to the concerns that the residents have.
Dihlabeng mayor, Tseki Tseki, issued 120 title deeds to the residents of Paul Roux and Fateng Tse Ntsho. He said the legitimate residents who own land must have title deeds.
The municipal spokesperson, Tshidiso Maitse, said the mayor pledged to come back soon to issue other title deeds once they are available.
"This is because there are still a lot of residents who stay on their land without the documents," said Maitse.
He doesn't agree with the residents who occupy land illegally. Some land belongs to the municipality for different purposes. He added that the municipality will give land legally to those who need it but after following the valid processes.
He pointed out that only residents who have land will get the title deeds.
