A teenager from Galeshewe in the Northern Cape is accused of killing another teen by stabbing him to death.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said an 18-year-old boy was involved in an argument with a woman who lived near to his home.
“He ran home to get a knife, but instead of going back for the woman, he fatally killed a bystander who was in front of his home. The victim was certified dead at the hospital,” Sam adds.
The matter was reported to the police and the accused was arrested on the same day.
Jemaine Long made a brief appearance in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 2 for the murder of a 16-year-old male.
The case was postponed until Monday, May 8 for a formal bail hearing.
Long will also make an appearance before the same court in a separate instance of assault, with the intent to inflict serious bodily harm, on Friday (5 May 2023).
