Six protesters from Mmamahabane in court─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:37 Thu, 18 May 2023
Six people arrested for public violence during community protests in Mmamahabane in the Free State, will appear in the Ventersburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday after barricading the N1 and R70 roads at Ventersburg with rubbish, stones, and burning tyres.

This was after 350 angry residents of Mmamahabane walked to the municipal offices on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 to demand water. The Free State police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says about 150 people gathered in front of the court to support the suspects.
At this stage, the traffic on the N1 and R70 is flowing as the police are monitoring the situation.
Thakeng says the situation remains tense but calm for now, while schools and businesses operate normally.
