Businesses robbery suspects arrested in North West─── 11:35 Sat, 20 May 2023
Five men were arrested by Orkney's Visible Policing and the Stilfontein K9 unit in North West on Friday after the police were alerted of a business robbery at Noord Street in the Klerksdorp central business district.
The suspects allegedly robbed a cell phone shop. Their vehicle was spotted and stopped 30 minutes after the incident at Laurens Park on the R30.
North West police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh told OFM News upon searching the vehicle, fourteen cell phones were found, and a firearm.
Myburgh said it has been determined that the firearm found in the possession of the suspects, was stolen earlier this year during a house-breaking incident in the Free State.
"The five will appear before the Orkney Magistrate's Court on Monday, facing charges of possession of stolen property, business robbery, and possession of an illegal firearm," said Myburgh.
