It’s alleged that on Saturday 13 May 2023, the 38-year-old Dikgang Edward Lebetsa allegedly assaulted and poured petrol over his wife and set her alight. The victim, however, survived it and ended up in the hospital. The suspect was arrested the following day after a case of attempted murder was opened at the Botshabelo police station.

Meanwhile, scores of residents from Botshabelo are expected to gather outside the Botshabelo Magistrate's Court in support of the victim. This was after a voice note from one of the residents calling for others to show up in numbers to support the victim and for the suspect to be denied bail.
