North West man in court for slitting mother’s throat─── ZENANDE MPAME 14:20 Tue, 13 Jun 2023
A man in North West was charged with murder on 12 June 2023 at the Brits Magistrate's Court in North West after allegedly slitting the throat of his 67-year-old mother earlier this month.
“On 8 June, the police received a call to a site in Zone 10, Letlhabile, where a 17-year-old girl claimed to have discovered the body of her mom.
Police entered the bedroom and found the deceased lying on top of the bed, facing upwards, with a slit throat,” says North West police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh.
The police found the suspect Eliphus Motlhasedi (42) in a back room in the same yard.
Further investigations found that the woman had previously filed a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against her son.
Motlhasedi will apply for release on bail on 20 June 2023.
