The Vryburg Crime Court postponed the case against Reginald Scholtz (57) to 19 July 2023 for further consultation.

The court ordered that Scholtz hand over his passport to the investigating officer while he was on bail of R10 000.

He was also told to show up every Monday between 06:00 and 18:00 at the local police station.

Scholtz is facing 61 charges of theft amounting to R9.1 million and was arrested on 12 March 2023 after stealing the money from Botselo Mills (Pty) Ltd, where he was employed as the Group Financial Manager.

The Hawks investigations revealed due to his access rights to the company's banking systems, Scholtz has three bank accounts from three different financial institutions.

From January 2017 until August 2022, he fraudulently moved money into these accounts under the guise of paying service providers.

He allegedly created documents that needed authorisation and approval before the money could be released to be paid by the business to service suppliers.

Scholtz’s fraudulent ways of manipulating the company’s financial system would eventually result in payments into his accounts.

Investigations on the case are completed and the state is ready to go for trial.
