A case of culpable homicide is being investigated in an accident that claimed the life of the Free State police spokesperson Thabo Covane's daughter.
According to police spokesperson Loraine Earle, it is alleged a vehicle drove into another vehicle from behind while it was stationary at the traffic light.
The passenger, who was travelling in the stationary car of Covane, passed away as a result of the impact. Others were injured.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving.

Earle did confirm Covane was involved in this accident.
The accident in question happened at the Curie Avenue bridge in Fichardt Park, Bloemfontein, on Saturday evening.
VR Med’s Facebook post explained that the crews, which included the Mangaung Fire & Rescue crew, declared the passenger dead after sustaining fatal injuries. The other passengers were transported to the hospital for medical attention. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family during this difficult time.”
