The municipal mayor, Jack Malindi, who was recently elected unopposed, announced his Mayoral Committee on Friday (18/8). He replaced DA councillor Jeff Zwane, who was removed through a vote of no confidence on Tuesday (2/8) during a council meeting held at the Harry Gwala Multipurpose Centre in Zamdela, Sasolburg.

From the EFF, Malindi announced Lefa Nhlapho as the MMC for Solid Waste, Selloane Motjeane as MMC for Organisational Development and Corporate Services, Leetoane Tsotetsi as MMC for Parks, Sports, Arts and Culture, and A Motaung for Human Settlements.

Dotlhare Mofokeng from MCA was announced as the MMC for Special Programmes, while the ANC has been represented by Mapule Mofokeng, who was announced as MMC for Public Safety, Security, Traffic and Disaster, Lindiwe Tshongwe, as MMC for Finance and IDP, Lebohang Makhefu as MMC for Local Economic Development, and Mosiua Poho as MMC for Infrastructure and Technical Services.

Municipal spokesperson, Gino Alberts, said the appointment of the new committee will go a long way in assisting Malindi to play effective and efficient oversight over administration. It will also assist in ensuring the provision of quality services on sustainable bases to all residents of Metsimaholo. He requested residents to support the mayor and his newly appointed committee and further hold them to a high standard of accountability.
