Residents of JB Marks Municipality in North West breathe a sigh of relief after Eskom cancelled the anticipated planned power outage.
Eskom scheduled a 33-hour power interruption over three days for residents of the JB Marks Municipality in Potchefstroom due to transformers leaking oil.
Municipal spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, said Eskom has rescheduled the planned outage in Potchefstroom, Promosa, Mohadin, Ikageng Proper, and Extension areas.
She said Eskom was forced to reschedule the planned outage as a result of the present intense rains.
“We received this information this morning (7/11). As such, the planned power outage for today has been cancelled. The planned outage that is set to start on Thursday (9/11) and terminate on Friday (10/11) will go forward as planned to repair transformers at the Potch DS Substation.”
Tshite previously said Eskom will be repairing transformers at Potch DS Substation, which is a 132/88kv substation, and at a main substation supplying power into Potchefstroom from the Hermes Substation near Stilfontein.
