The Griqualand West Rugby Union says in a statement Dube was arrested after an incident on the 29th of April in Kariega the Eastern Cape. expressed.  It says the incident has shocked and deeply saddened the Griqualand West Rugby community. 

"As an organisation committed to upholding the values of integrity, respect, and sportsmanship, we do not condone any form of violence or aggressive behaviour, both on and off the field," said Chief Executive Officer, Arni van Rooyen.

Dube, a former Blue Bulls u/21 captain, joined Griquas towards the latter part of 2021.  He has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities pending further investigation and legal proceedings.  The Union is also conducting its own internal review.

Van Rooyen said the Union extends its sincerest apologies to anyone affected by the incident.  

"As an organisation, we remain committed to promoting a culture of respect, responsibility, and accountability among our players and staff. We will continue to uphold the highest standards of conduct and ensure that incidents like these are not tolerated within our Union," he said.
