Kimberley Women’s Month: Mother and daughter event sold out─── CASEY-LEE ANTHONY 11:10 Fri, 23 Aug 2024

“It is all about promoting women empowerment and also empowering women to raise strong and fearless daughters.”
Kimberley’s first-ever Woman’s Month extravaganza for mothers and daughters sold out ahead of the event.
Originally set to be a woman-only event, it changed after event organiser Merissa Meyers realised there aren’t many recreational options for children in the City of Diamonds.
“The venue itself allowed us to have a private event where we could invite the younger girls as well as their mothers,” Meyers said. “We’re excited! It’s all about promoting woman empowerment and also empowering women to raise strong and fearless daughters.
The event aims to empower mothers and daughters of all ages, after identifying a void in the community for women, mothers, and their daughters to come together and be celebrated, especially during this month.
“I want the daughters to experience the talent and just all things beautiful because we have a lot of beautiful pageant gowns, girls who’re going to dance, and the rhythmic gymnastics team that’s coming through. We’ve got people who will be playing musical instruments, singing, dancing …
“It’s going to be a nice comprehensive build-up show and then during the main event, a speaker will encourage parents or women to raise strong and fearless daughters.”
Tickets sold out by Wednesday (21/8), prior to Friday’ (23/8) event. Many prospective attendees have enquired about ticket sales at the doors, but unfortunately, none will be available.
“I didn’t expect the tickets to be sold out. I thought we could still sell tickets at the door for the latecomers or the late decision-makers.”
All the performers, acts and speakers are from the local community, making Kimberley shine from within.
