A Mangaung Metro accounting officer has been shot and killed.
The senior manager (48) in the metro’s infrastructure department was allegedly murdered as he was driving off from the municipal offices in the Bloemfontein CBD.
Free State police spokesperson Loraine Earle said the incident took place at around 15:45 on Thursday (17/10). The deceased reportedly left his office and went to his car, but as he drove off with a colleague, an unknown assailant approached the vehicle and fired shots at the driver’s side.
The deceased was declared dead on the scene, said Earle. His colleague, who was unscathed, received medical attention for shock.
No arrest
The deceased, who’s identity is known to OFM News, may only be identified once his next-of-kin have been formally informed and have identified him.
Police are investigating a murder case. No one’s been arrested. Anyone with information is requested to contact the police or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
