Vereeniging man in court for alleged murder of his mother and brother─── ZENANDE MPAME 14:18 Fri, 09 May 2025

A man from Henley on Klip will appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Monday (12/5) on two counts of murder after killing his mother and his teenage brother.
Brazea Mogudi (25) appeared in the same court on Thursday (8/5), and he is facing two counts of murder for allegedly stabbing and killing his mother (54) and his brother (16).
Mogudi handed himself over to the Meyerton Police Station, where he was subsequently arrested later on the same day. “It is alleged that on Sunday (4/5), a neighbour heard a commotion coming from the Mogudi residence,” said Gauteng NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahinjana.
“When they went to investigate, he saw the accused on top of his younger brother, who was lying on the ground. The accused’s mother was nearby, screaming for help and shouting, ‘He is killing him!’
“The neighbour called out to the community for assistance.”
Members of the community responded, but they were unable to enter the property as the gate was locked, and by the time help arrived, Mogudi had fled the scene, she said.
Multiple stab wounds
Vaalweekblad reports that the Henley on Klip Community Policing Forum (CPF) was the first to respond and secured the scene so that the police could conduct a proper investigation without contamination of evidence.
Both victims had sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck, face, and hands, and the motive for the attack is unknown.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man will appear again in a North West court near Taung soon for three counts of murder after he allegedly murdered his parents and his sister in November last year.
‘Emergency services were called and declared all three victims dead’
The family was inside their house when the suspect entered and allegedly struck his father, Mosimanegape Kale (74), on the head with a knobkerrie, his mother, Phodisho Kale (68), and sister Bonolo Kale (27) before fleeing the scene.
“Emergency and medical rescue services were called and declared all three victims dead on the scene,” said North West police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh.
“Community members assisted in tracking down the suspect, who was arrested the following day.”
