More arrests are imminent after an official from the Labour Department in Bloemfontein was arrested on Thursday morning (3/7) for alleged UIF fraud.

The Free State police and Hawks – in the presence of provincial police commissioner Lt. Gen. Baile Motswenyane – are busy with a take-down operation across at least two provinces and in several towns.

After the first arrest, Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele said investigations have been completed after five months, and at least 20 suspects are expected to be arrested in connection with this case.

The suspect is about to be detained at the Park Road police station in Bloemfontein. The accused are expected to appear in court on Monday (7/7).

This is a developing story.
