Mr Central South Africa ready to lead by example─── REFILWE BEKANE 09:30 Thu, 20 Nov 2025
The new Mr Central South Africa has outlined his official initiatives for his term, structuring them around the programme’s core pillars of service, leadership, and advocacy.
Mpho Lekhoana, 19, from Welkom, said his goals are centred on personal growth and modelling. The Mr Central South Africa programme works to shape men into people who understand the issue of gender-based violence and deal with empowerment, he said.
“I value personal growth a lot, so I believe Mr Central South Africa would allow me to see what kind of person I can be outside modelling.”
He intends to start a social page where people can meet to discuss and brainstorm what can be done to address gender-based violence.
His goal is to allow those who know what to do but cannot voice it to be heard. He plans to interact with people who lead GBV programmes and those who deal with the issue personally, seeking to learn more about the topic.
A key project from his journey to the crown is working on a school activation with Seabo Primary School.
He plans to meet with the principal again to discuss further collaboration. He said the project is playing a large role in his life, giving him the chance to stand in front of many children and serve as an inspiration, noting he was not a public person while growing up.
“Anything is possible if you believe you can do it and never let anyone discourage your thoughts and how you structure your things,” said Lekhoana.
He encourages the youth to believe in themselves. His advice is for people to understand their differences, know when to use their voices, and not judge others based on their achievements or plans.
