Final call for 2026 Free State full-time bursary applications─── ZENANDE MPAME 11:45 Fri, 09 Jan 2026
With only eight days left before applications close, the Free State provincial government is urging Grade 12 learners and students to apply for its 2026 full-time bursary programme.
The bursary is available to students who have already been accepted at, or are currently enrolled in, a higher education institution. The programme is designed to support candidates who wish to study at accredited institutions, while promoting skills development and enhancing access to education throughout the province.
The provincial government has warned incomplete applications or submissions without the necessary documentation will not be considered.
“Eligible applicants are required to complete the official application form and submit it together with all required supporting documents,” it said in a statement.
“The provincial government urges interested candidates to apply as soon as possible, because late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.”
The bursary programme forms part of the provincial government’s broader commitment to empowering young people through education, skills development, and improved access to higher learning opportunities.
Prospective applicants can download the application form directly from the Free State provincial government website. Alternatively, applicants may scan the QR code provided on the official bursary poster to access and download the form electronically.
The closing date for applications is Friday (16/1) at 16:00. Applicants are reminded to read the application guidelines and ensure all information provided is accurate before submission.
Meanwhile, Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae and education MEC Dr Julia Maboya will release the provincial NSC results at the technical media briefing on Tuesday (13/1).
On Friday, the MEC and premier will host the 2025 Grade 12 annual well done function at the Boet Troskie hall at the Central University of Technology, with more than 700 people expected to attend the function.
They include top performing learners, principals, parents, MECs, members of provincial legislature, members of parliament, provincial SGB council members, teachers unions, corporate and business sector partners, and senior government officials.
