UFS graduate’s family appeals for public support─── REFILWE BEKANE 15:16 Wed, 22 Apr 2026
The Musanda Foundation NPO and the Nndwa-Mukwevho-Nemutwani family are appealing for public donations to secure the future of the two children left behind following a UFS student’s passing.
Their BackaBuddy campaign aims to raise R500,000 to assist her family from Masakona Village in Limpopo. “Our wish is to see them grow up surrounded by love, care, and support,” said Musanda Foundation head Murendi Musanda Ndanduleni.
The initiative also aims to serve as a reminder to them that their parent’s hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed, he added.
Mulalo Nndwa, 26, was an urban and regional planning master’s graduate. She studied at the university from 2013 until her graduation, where she earned a BA in geography and environmental management and an honours degree in spatial planning.
At the time of her death, she was serving as a town planner intern at the Free State department of education, Ndanduleni said. During her internship, she contributed to provincial spatial development frameworks and statutory planning processes.
The fundraising efforts are a direct response to the impact Nndwa had on the community and academic society, he added. The family will maintain full control over all donation platforms.

Contributions can be made through the banking details provided on the official campaign posters or through the donation channels authorised by both the family and the NPO.
“Beyond her academic and professional accomplishments, Mulalo was the backbone of her family,” said her brother Muvhango Ndwa. Her death has created financial and emotional changes for her relatives.
The support would carry forward the vision her sister had for her children, a future defined by opportunity, dignity, and hope, he added.
The foundation and the family have expressed their gratitude for the support received from the public thus far, stating that these donations help carry out the plans Nndwa had.
“Mulalo gave her life to building a better tomorrow, now it is our turn to help sustain the tomorrow she dreamed of for her children,” said Nndwa.
