Ernst Steynberg was last seen at approximately 16:00 on Sunday at Rietvallei farm near Rysmierbult. He was wearing black tracksuit pants and a dark charcoal cardigan when he disappeared.

His wife, Alise Steynberg, last saw her husband in the kitchen shortly after 16:15. When she went to speak to him again about 15 minutes later, he had disappeared.

His family has appealed to the public to report any sightings or information that could assist in bringing him home safely.

“I last saw him at about 16:15 in the kitchen, and when I wanted to talk to him again around 16:30, I couldn’t find him,” said Alise. “We started looking, and later called in people to help when we realised there was really a problem. He was missing, and he is still missing.

“We’ve had intensive search parties, we’ve got dogs, we’ve had helicopters up in the air, and we’ve had thermal drones flying. We’ve had the most fantastic response from all the farmers in our area, and there is absolutely no sign of my husband.”“If anybody sees him, whether along the roadside or elsewhere, please contact me. We would appreciate any help.”

Advice from The Pink Ladies is when someone is missing, or you feel like there is something wrong or something has happened to them, please bear in mind there is no 24-hour waiting period; there has never been.

• Get in touch with their friends and immediately report it to the police, particularly if you feel something has happened to them or they have come into some sort of harm.
• The first thing to do is to check everything in the area where they went missing, and do a five-point search: north, south, west, east, and from the actual spot.
• It is very important to let the organisation know whether the child or adult has some sort of dependency on alcohol and drugs, whether they suffer from dementia or some sort of medical condition that can affect their well-being and their state of mind.
• Even though the information won’t be published, it will be noted that they are vulnerable and people should treat them with care if they happen to come across them.
