Keneilwe Cecilia Letshwara was found dead at her home in Nyakallong on Monday (7/9). Police received a complaint at about 12:00 after her daughter and colleagues were unable to get hold of her.

The colleagues became concerned when she failed to report for work and informed her daughter Keabetswe Letshwara, who then sought assistance from the police.

Free State police spokesperson Sgt Palesa Thabana said the police went to the address to investigate. “Upon gaining entry into the premises and ultimately inside the house, the police discovered a female in the bedroom unclothed.”

“Her hands and feet were tied with a rope. Emergency medical services were called to the scene and declared her deceased.” Thabana said preliminary investigations indicated nothing had been taken from the house.

Forensic investigations are underway to determine the cause of death. “The motive for the murder is unclear at this stage.”

The Allanridge case bears similarities to a recent double murder in Virginia, where Fanie Fourie, 68, and his son, Dawie, 40, were found dead in an outside room on 30 July with their hands and feet tied.

Police said one victim had plastic covering over his head, while the other had been strangled with a wire. Post-mortem results later indicated the causes of death were strangulation and suffocation.
