Free State police are investigating a shooting incident in Bloemfontein after two businessmen, reportedly the eKhayeni twin brothers, were gunned down at their offices in Bochabela on Wednesday morning (21/10).
The crime scene remains active as police and forensic personnel attended to the incident in Ramatsoele Street, with another reference to Morakile Street provided in the initial police account. Free State police spokesperson Lt. Col. Thabo Covane said a complaint was received through radio control at around 08:51. Police arrived at the scene at around 09:00.
Covane said a witness, who was alone in a yard at the time, allegedly heard gunshots coming from upstairs. When the witness went outside to investigate, he reportedly saw a man jumping into a white hatchback motor vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Emergency medical services personnel and ER24 were called to the scene, where two men were declared dead. Covane said the passenger had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while the status of the driver had not yet been confirmed at the time of the initial police briefing.

Police indicated further details were expected to be released as the investigation progressed.
The eKhayeni twin brothers Keabecoe and Kegomodicoe Lekone were previously arrested following a high-profile shooting in August 2008 outside their establishment, eKhayeni Pub and Grill, in Bloemfontein.

According to an earlier report by Free State Weekly, the Lekone twins were arrested and faced several charges, including murder, theft, perjury and defeating the ends of justice.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Police have yet to release further details about the motive, the identity of the suspected shooter, or whether any arrests have been made.
