The VKB Knights will be targeting a better performance with the ball when they face the Highveld Lions on Saturday in the Momentum One-Day Cup.

On Sunday the Titans thumped the Knights by nine wickets at SuperSport Park in Centurion.

A 107 not out by Keegan Petersen and 80 not out by Ryan McLaren were the only highlights for the Central franchise.

McLaren says that they need a better foundation with bat and ball going forward.

“It’s an old cliché, but we’ve got to take it one game at a time,” said the former Proteas all-rounder.

“We’ve got to look at how we can take wickets in the first 10 or 15 overs in order to put batting line-ups under pressure.

“On the other side of the coin we’ve got to perhaps have a better platform with the bat. Maybe have fewer wickets down in the first 10 or 15 overs so that we can have a better opportunity to attack, and then exploit at the bottom end of the innings.”

The Lions and Knights for head-to-head on Saturday at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. Meanwhile, the Lions will also be in action against the Warriors at the Bullring on Wednesday.
