Rains wins the 1st ODI in Dharamshala─── MORGAN PIEK 15:22 Thu, 12 Mar 2020
Rain was the big winner on Thursday in the 1st One-Day International between India and the Proteas in Dharamshala.
Heavy rain in the region saw the match called off today without a ball being bowled, and the captains weren’t even able to toss.
The series has effectively been reduced to a series of two matches, with the second ODI scheduled for Lucknow on Sunday.
Proteas batsman, Rassie van der Dussen, says it is disappointing to see a second rained out ODI in Dharamshala for a second yet.
“It is very disappointing after traveling all the way here. The same happened last year where we didn’t get a ball bowled.
“It is a very scenic ground and they say with the view of the mountains it is second only to Newlands in the world. So as a player it is very disappointing seeing the beautiful ground and the passionate fans and not being able to get onto the park.
“We can’t control that, but there are still two games in the series. We’ve got to work hard, we’ve got to really prepare ourselves as best for the conditions we are going to face now.
Play in Lucknow is scheduled to start on at 10:00 on Sunday morning.
